The City of Auburn Hills Police Department offers an array of programs to the community. The programs we offer are designed to provide information to residents and visitors about various subjects such as personal safety and building security. Several members of our staff have been trained as Crime Prevention Practitioners and offer their services to our community in an effort to reduce victimization. Feel free to contact the Auburn Hills Police Department if you would like to host a crime prevention program for your neighborhood, or need information for your personal use. Some of the programs we offer are:

  • Prom Program
The Prom Program is a proactive program that addresses teen parties following high school proms. It first identifies the dates of all Oakland County high school proms. That information is then forwarded with information about our local ordinances to our hotels, motels and inns. Additionally, we notify 28 local high schools of our program and offer them announcements and other materials that outline our proactive approach to curtailing post prom parties at our hotels. On each of the prom nights an officer is assigned to the hotel districts contacting rooms that the hotel management has identified as a possible prom party.

  • Operation Safe Stay
Operation Safe Stay is a program where we teach hotel employees to recognize the activities and paraphernalia associated with narcotic trafficking. Officers host training classes with the individual hotel staffs and show them the different narcotics they may encounter. Additionally, the officers provide them with a phone number to "Crime Stoppers", a non-profit organization that rewards people for information that results in an arrest or conviction..

  • Town Meetings
Town Meetings are crime prevention programs hosted by neighborhoods and apartment complexes. During these meetings we discuss crime trends occurring in the particular neighborhood hosting the meeting. We then provide the residents with crime prevention tips designed to reduce their chances of being victimized.

  • Workplace Safety
Workplace safety is a program offered to businesses that discusses safety in the workplace. Information is provided regarding threat assessment, handling threats, and reporting incidents to the police.

  • Security Surveys
Security Surveys are formal reviews of a person's home or business where a specially trained police officer inspects the property and suggest ways to make it more secure. These can be very in-depth and time consuming. Surveys are scheduled by appointment only.

If you need information on any crime prevention topics please let us know. If you would like to host a meeting in your subdivision or workplace please call Officer Michael Kazyak at (248) 364-6879 or e-mail at mkazyak@auburnhills.org.
