National Night Out 2006

Fugitive Apprehended / Taser Deployed

On June 26, 2006 at approximately 12:10 a.m. an Officer was checking on an occupied 1993 Ford Taurus in a city park after hours. The officer was working to identify the male passenger when he fled on foot into the wooded area of the park and the officers gave chase. The subject was located hiding near the Clinton River lying face down in the brush. When the subject did not comply with the officers verbal commands he was Tasered.

The subject was then handcuffed and medically cleared. The subject continued to give the officer false information regarding his identity. The subject was processed through Automatic Finger Print Identification System (AFIS), within minutes the subject identified as a wanted fugitive in the State of Mississippi for narcotic crimes.

The Mississippi fugitive, a 31 year old man staying in Pontiac, was cited for providing false information to the police officers, and resisting and obstructing a police officer. The fugitive was lodged the Oakland County Jail on these charges and extradition to Mississippi is pending. The 20 year old female occupant of vehicle was not charged with anything and released from the scene.
