Auburn Hills detectives are investigating a Nigerian fraud scam that occurred on August 22nd 2006. A 64 year old Davisburg, MI. resident was tricked into giving the suspects a significant amount of cash in return for a promise of more money.

One suspect, a well dressed African American male approximately 40 years of age, 5'08" with a thin build and a foreign accent approached the victim in the parking lot of the Home Depot store at 4150 Josyln Rd, Auburn Hills. The suspect convinced the victim to give him a ride as he had a close relative that had passed away and he needed help to collect some death benefits.

The first suspect then enlisted the help of a second suspect, a well dressed African American male in his mid 30's, 5'10" tall with a thin build.

The two suspects convinced the victim to withdraw a significant amount of money from his bank account. The suspects had promised the victim that they needed his money to secure the death benefit. Once the victim withdrew the money and gave it to the suspects they left the area and never returned.

Police are looking for a dark colored SUV or van with an unknown out of state plate that may have been involved in this incident.

Police would like to remind citizens that if they are approached by persons promising a quick scheme to make thousands of dollars that seems to good to be true it probably is. If anyone is approached by someone trying to convince them to participate in this type of scheme they should contact their local police department immediately.
