Auburn Hills Wins National Award
The Auburn Hills Police Department has been selected as a National Award Winner by the National Association of Town Watch for their outstanding participation in the “23rd Annual National Night Out” crime, drug and violence prevention program.
The City of Auburn Hills hosted their 6th annual National Night Out program onAugust 1, 2006. Over 80 organizations participated in the program with over 2,000 residents showing up to enjoy the free fun-filled event. The program was spearheaded by Officer Michael Kazyak, Crime Prevention Officer for the Auburn Hills Police Department, for the 4th straight year.
The City of Auburn Hills was placed in a category that received 410 entries for awards. Out of the 410 entries there are 56 winners. Two of the winners are from the State of Michigan: the City of Auburn Hills and the City of Mt. Pleasant.
The National Association of Town watch has reported that the National Night Out 2006 campaign was the largest ever. There were 11,125 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases world wide that participated, with an estimate of 35.2 million people attending.
