National Night Out 2006

Impersonating a Police Officer

On November 26, 2006, at approximately 9:30 a.m. a 22 year female from Linden, Michigan  was pulled over on North bound I-75 between Lapeer and Joslyn Roads.   The victim described the vehicle that stopped her as a white mid 90’s Ford, possibly a Crown Victoria, with a red and blue light bar on the top of the car and a spotlight near the driver side rearview mirror.  The victim states a subject approached her vehicle and after a brief conversation with the subject the victim was told she could go on her way.  The victim was not physically harmed in anyway.

The suspect is described as white male, 6’2”, 190-195 pounds, 33-35 years old, with short dirty blond hair, brown eyes and no facial hair.  The suspect was wearing a navy blue police like uniform with a badge affixed to it; the uniform did not have patches on it.  The victim also states that the suspect was wearing some type of police hat.

It is a high misdemeanor punishable by 1 year in jail and/or $1000.00 fine for an individual who is not a peace officer to represent to another person that he or she is a peace officer for any unlawful purpose.  A person may also be charged with a 93 day misdemeanor for wearing a police uniform, badge, or patch unless that person is duly authorized as a peace officer.  It is also a misdemeanor traffic violation to have red and blue lights on a motor vehicle.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding this traffic stop should contact the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9444.
